This guide provides a step-by-step guide and checklist to quickly launch your new ad campaign.
Step 1. Create a Workplace
Welcome! New to Moloco Ads?
You'll need to create a Workplace to start using Moloco Ads.
Note: Only required for first-time users.
- Create a Workplace to start using Moloco Ads: A Workplace is a control center for handling multiple Ad Accounts within Moloco Ads. If you do not have a workplace, please contact a Moloco representative and follow the guide below.
Step 2. Campaign preparation
After Moloco has processed all your information and has created your Workplace, it's time to prepare your campaign settings.
-
Before setting up your campaign, you'll need to have your Mobile Measurement Partner(MMP) integrated.
- Full postback settings: For most campaigns, Moloco’s machine learning requires full postback data (including organic data) for optimization.
- Prepare all creative sets for each country that you are targeting: All creative sets must follow Moloco’s creative guidelines. Note that some exchanges (such as Samsung, Kakao, etc.) may have their own specific guidelines. Please make sure to double-check the guides provided below before designing your creatives.
-
The more creative assets, the better!
Maximize user reach by preparing your creative assets with all formats and sizes required for your target country.
- Set up an Ad account to run campaigns: An ad account is the standard for Billing and Reporting. Your campaign operates based on ad account settings (timezone, currency), and also invoices are issued per ad accounts. Please be careful as the timezone and currency can't be modified once set in place.
- Add Ad account owners: Grant Ad account owner role to the person in charge of the campaign operation.
- Register your iOS and Android app: App setting is critical for the campaign to be optimized properly. Check if the app information and the MMP bundle ID are registered accurately.
- Double-check MMP postback integration: Using the Postback Dashboard, check that your postback dashboard is integrated correctly.
-
What’s next? All Apps registered on Moloco Ads must be reviewed. If an App seems to have no clear relation to the Ad Account, additional proof may be requested. The review process may take up to 24 hours.
- Register your tracking link: Create MMP tracking link and register in Moloco Ads to track the user's journey from ad impression and click to an in-app action you want to optimize your campaign for.
-
Contact the Moloco representative if there is a specific value you want to check in a parameter.
Step 3: Campaign settings
Once the steps above are completed, you can now set up your campaign based on your goal.
-
- Campaign goal setting: Choose the right optimization goal for your campaign.
Different goals for different stages of your App
We advise you to start with the Install optimization in the early stage of the app launch and then launch In-app Action and ROAS optimization campaigns based on your marketing KPI.
- Double-check Conversion: Select the postback event that you want to see counted in your report. We recommend that you choose one important event rather than multiples as you will only be reported the total sum of the events. This is only for reporting purposes and won't impact the campaign optimization.

For the Re-engagement campaign, we automatically target users active after the MMP integration. If you wish to target other specific groups of audience, please refer to Step 5. Target Settings
Step 4: Creative group settings
All campaigns need ad creatives. Let’s see how we can add our creative assets to the campaigns.
-
- Create 1 or multiple creative group(s): A Creative group is like a folder for your creative assets. With the creative group, you can set up schedules and analyze the data for each group. Multiple creative groups are required if you want to analyze campaign performance based on multiple different creative formats and/or concepts.
- (Optional) Set Start/End Schedule of Creative groups: You can start, pause, and end the use of creatives through the Day/Time schedule option. These options are preferred for promotions or seasonal creatives.
- Add creative assets into each Creative group: You need to add Image, Native, and Video creative assets under the Creative group.
- Add the Creative group(s) to the Ad group: After having all your creatives ready in Creative groups, simply add the Creative groups to the Ad Group to start using it in your campaign.
Step 5: Target settings (Optional)
Your campaign is now ready to run with creatives. Target is an optional setting you can use to specify your target audiences. Similar to the Creative group setting, you need to create your Target and add that into your Ad group.
-
- Create Targets you want to use for your campaigns: You can create Custom audience by uploading User(ADID) lists and/or by utilizing your postback event. You can also target specific users by including or excluding a Placement, such as a certain Publisher App, Publisher App Category, or Exchange.

- How to create a Target based on postback events.
- How to create a Target with a Placement setting.
Is it recommended to block or target certain publishers?
To get the most from your campaigns, we don't recommend blocking or targeting specific publishers. Since Moloco's machine learning engine optimizes on a user level (not publisher level), we can find valuable users even if they showed up in low-performing publisher apps in the past. Having the broadest possible reach is ideal. If you need to block a list of publishers for brand safety, consider blocking as few as possible.
- Add the Target(s) to the Ad group: Once you have all your Targets ready, simply add the Target you want in the campaign to the Ad group.
All set to go!
All your campaign settings are complete! Now our machine learning will start optimizing for your campaign. Once we have enough data to launch the campaign, you'll receive an email notification that your campaign is ready to be launched. Please make sure to TURN ON your campaign to go live!
