Dynamic Creative Assembly (DCA) automatically builds additional ad variations and creative combinations from assets you have already uploaded to ad groups and use across campaigns in your Moloco account. This gives us more creative options to test and optimize, without requiring your team to manually build every combination.
Important: At this time, the DCA feature is in open beta. It is enabled by default across all eligible campaigns. If you would like to opt out, reach out to your Moloco representative.
How it works
DCA evaluates existing pairs of active (not deleted or removed) creative assets and format types across your ad group(s) and automatically generates new creative and creative combinations from creatives that weren't paired. This means that an interactive end card can become a playable, and a static end card can become an image interstitial.
Within an ad group, all active creative assets (videos, images, and interactive ads) are eligible for DCA combinations. Any creative asset that is deleted or removed from a creative group can no longer be used in DCA combinations. Any existing combination that used the deleted or removed asset will stop serving.
At this time, the following types of creative assets are eligible for DCA.
- Video
- Image
- Interactive (Playable, Interactive End Card)
DCA is enabled by default. To check whether DCA has been enabled, navigate to Campaign details from campaign overview, and find DYNAMIC CREATIVES.
Reporting
In Moloco Ads Manager, you can view both performance across all DCA generated creatives and performance of up to 10 best performing creatives.
To view performance data, navigate to Dynamic Creatives (Beta) from the Creatives tab in Ad Group Home. The Aggregate performance and Top 10 performing dynamic creatives tables are displayed in that order.
The Aggregate performance table displays aggregate performance across all DCA generated creatives relative to manually uploaded creatives.
The Top 10 performing dynamic creatives table displays aggregate and individual performance of up to 10 best performing creatives. When no or fewer than 10 DCA generated creatives have served, the table displays either no data or fewer than 10 rows of data. You can click into each individual creative to view more details about the creative (title, ID, date of creation, assets, specs, and origin creative group).
Note: You may be able to access performance of individual DCA generated asset combinations through your MMP. Performance data will appear as aggregate DCA Creative. Due to the lack of granularity in partner reporting, performance data from partner reporting can't be added to Moloco data.
Frequently asked questions
Can I opt out of DCA?
Yes. Contact your Moloco representative to turn off DCA for a campaign. When DCA is off, DCA-generated creatives stop serving, and your other creatives continue.
I have brand guidelines or creative review requirements. Is DCA a good fit?
DCA builds only from creatives you’ve already uploaded that are active and attached to ad groups. In beta, you can’t preview or approve generated creatives before they serve, and DCA can create other format types from your existing assets. If you have brand guidelines or review requirements, contact your Moloco representative to discuss whether DCA is right for your campaigns.
How will DCA affect campaign delivery and spend?
Your manually built creatives keep serving. Delivery may shift toward DCA creatives as Moloco tests and optimizes across all of your creatives. DCA runs periodically and generates creatives based on your eligible assets, so spend on DCA creatives can start or change after enablement, or after you add or remove creatives. Continue adding and refreshing creatives as usual.
Can I control which assets DCA uses or edit what it creates?
DCA builds from the eligible assets in an ad group. To prevent a specific pairing (for example, video A with end card A), keep those assets in separate ad groups. DCA-generated creatives can’t be edited. To stop DCA from using an asset, delete it or remove it from its creative group, and any DCA creative that used it stops serving.
Where is DCA enabled?
DCA is a campaign-level setting, so when it’s on, every ad group in the campaign is eligible. How much DCA creates varies by ad group, depending on the assets in it. To check status, open Campaign Details (campaign level) or Ad Group Details (ad group level).
How do DCA creatives show up in MMP reports?
Partner reports show DCA-generated creatives under the aggregate name “DCA Creative.” For performance detail on your top DCA creatives, use the Dynamic Creatives (Beta) tab in Moloco Ads Manager.
How should I evaluate DCA?
Use the Aggregate Performance view in the Dynamic Creatives (Beta) tab to compare DCA creatives with your other creatives. Evaluate impact at the campaign level rather than creative by creative, since delivery shifts toward whatever performs best.
